Rain-Time

It has finally stopped raining. Last night around 6pm it turned to a light sprinkle. I took the chance not knowing if it would stay that way and went jogging. By the time I was finished jogging it completely stopped. And to this point it has not rained. Although now it looks like it could start again. That is fine as long as it stops by tomorrow afternoon. Already got a bike ride in today.

And on another topic. Up until now I did not mind the time difference (Plus 13 to Eastern US), but it is annoying now. With it being football season and 80% of the games being during the day Eastern Time it ends up being AM for me. Therefore, if I want to watch football I have to stay up all night. Not easy to do when you have to work the next day.

It is going to make it a long couple of months for me.

Non-Stop Rain

Since this past Saturday it’s done nothing but rain expect one day; Monday. I don’t mind rain so much, but when you have to walk everywhere or bike rain just makes it horrible. We get issued rain gear, but it’s a catch-22. It does its job with keeping the rain out, but it doesn’t let you breathe so you sweat and get just as wet as if you didn’t wear it. What else can you do?

It also messes with my Jogging. I’ve done it in the rain before (Many times), in fact this morning we had squadron physical training and ended up jogging in the rain; but it just annoying more then anything.

And, I just spend 100 bucks to get my bike serviced, and I want to ride it. They put a new chain on it and greased/oiled the bearings. In the short time I got to ride it; it made a huge difference. So much smoother and manageable vs. what it was. Plus I can shift gears again :-D .

Not bad considering the bike is over 6 years old and I haven’t done the maintenance like I should have. I do plan to stay on top of it this time.

So yeah, the moral is… it needs to stop raining.

Rain Rain Rain….

Since Monday it’s been raining. Soft at times and other times HARDcore… Seems to like to stop sometime after 3pm for a good many hours. (Which is nice, gives me time to do PT) But by morning it’s back raining. And the weather channel says it’s not going to top anytime soon.

Posted an updated Movie log. 179 is the magical number. Currently watching season three of lost; with plans to watch all the seasons of 24 next. I think at one time I watched the first season of 24; but nothing after that.

June Recap

It’s been a while since I last posted. Not much to post about. I live a very un-exciting life.

~~~
36 Movies/TV Shows watched this month. Knocked out a lot of movies I had in Queue to watch which helped to boost the numbers.
~~~

It’s now July which means a Month and a half till football season. New England Patriots are looking very good this season. I can’t wait to watch them. Hope I can somehow get them over here. Need to look to see if NFL.com shows them like MLB.com does for baseball.

Boston Red Sox are doing well, but they still got a lot they can do to improve the second half of the season. Then make a solid push at the word series title.

End of May Movie Update

31 Movies/TV Shows watched in May; of those 12 where TV series/ Mini Series. Bringing the grand total to 110/107

I still got a long list of Movies/TV Shows in queue I want to watch. Sot here is no rest in site :-D

Thanks

Goes to Valerie for this sweet look design.. She did an awesome job…

Traffic Sucks!!

Traffic sucks!! That is all I have to say about that.

Thursday – (today) Saturday I went/am/was TDY to Kusan AFB and Gimhae IAP to upgrade some computer equipment. From Osan to Kusan to Gimhae covers much of The Republic of Korea.

At the moment we are trying to drive back to OSAN but the traffic is horrible. Been bumper to bumper since we started and we have been on the road for close to 2 hours. At this rate we will never make it back to OSAN. From what I saw on a map; Korea has expressways that tri-verse the country and I assume everyone decided to use them today.

Sadly I forgot to pack me camera so I don’t have any pictures of trip. There are still plenty of trips I plan to take so soon enough there will be some.

But I have some observations to share.

1: The Republic of Korea has mountains and hills. The land itself is beautiful looking. Way better then good on Georgia.

2: Everywhere you look in The Republic of Korea you see farms. Every nook and cranny has a farm or field of some sort stuffed in there. They are very interesting to see. True I have only made observations from a vehicle and can only see what’s next to the highway.

3: Korean’s drive like maniacs. I thought Boston/Cali drivers where bad, but not even close. Cars parking in the middle of the street; Drivers who will just cut you off and expect u to let them; Traffic lights mean nothing… So on. Just glad I am not the one driving. One of the co-workers is Korean, so he is driving.

4: Last night we stayed in Busan at the Busan Lotte Hotel. It was a nice hotel. High class but I was disappointed. It cost around 134 dollars a night. (This doesn’t bother me becase the AF is paying anyways). But one would think for that price you would get internet correct? Nopers, it would have been another 20 dollars for that. Plus, they only had one 100V power plug and that was in the bathroom. Plus they didn’t have a DVD player. Just VHS!!

I’m just ready to be back. And when I do you will be able to read this.

So I am back now… And just for the record, it took 9ish hours to make a 3-4 hr trip. Fun Fun

Movie Tracker

Took me a good while to get around to posting this, Almost two months after I started it, it is being posted.

Movie Log File

This will also be in my link section for future easy clicks.

The log explains itself. For some reason with IE7 it wants you to run ActiveX. Guess that is what i get for doing it in WORD. Someday I will be able to afford DreamWeaver.

Since joining the military; and working most of that time on night shift; I have watch tons n tons of movies. And me being the carious person that I be, I’ve always wondered how many. That lead to the log I decided to keep. Sadness I didn’t do it way back when, but all we have is the Now and the Future.

With me being stationed in Korea, there will be a lot of time to watch Movies/TV Shows. That is unless I decide to take up the habit of nightly drunkenness or club hopping. Which won’t happen.. So Movies/Video Games it is.

I am multi-talented and normally have a Movies/TV Show going while I play on my XBOX 360 or Lord of the Rings Online.

As you can see I got a good jump on it in March with 45. Having almost a week out processing combined with leave in New Hampshire and then California; Gave a lot of time to watch movies.

34 in April; which considering 6 of those are Stargate SG-1 TV series consisting 22 episodes at 50 plus minutes apiece. What made this so high was the second week in Korea we had an exercise (as previously posted) which had me working 12 hours a night for 5 days.

In other happy news; I got me some Diet Mountain Dew. Seems the commissary has gotten some in. I just hope it is a permanent thing and not a once in a blue moon. Will find out as time goes on.

I was walking back from the commissary with two 12 packs and I passed a guy who asked if they where on sale today. Seems I was the 3rd or 4th person to walk by with Diet Mountain Dew. I laughed and told him no, it’s just you can’t find it anywhere else and seems to be tough to keep in stock.

Insomnia

Currently it’s just before 2PM Monday as I type this and I’ve been up since 8AM Sunday morning. I could not sleep what-so-ever last night at all. I tired to go to bed at 1145PM and just tossed n turned all night. My Body is protesting the non-regular sleep schedule I’ve had to partake in over the last month.

I was on normal sleep Eastern Time zone for many months up till around March 20th.

Then I want to Pacific Time and stayed on that till I left for Korea 5 April.

That night I sleep some but not a lot, and I didn’t sleep on the 15 hour flight. I got to Korea Friday night local time and crashed and it so happened to be the right time at 13 Hours ahead of eastern.

The next week I was sleeping fine and everything was good.

Then OSAN “Exercised” and I was put on nights. So I switched to that and I didn’t have much trouble sleeping after being at work for 12 hours.

But then came the end of the “Exercise” this past Friday. I happened to have an in-processing appointment Friday at 2pm so I woke up at noon with the intent for me to go to bed Friday night and get back on the normal schedule.

But, Friday night I didn’t sleep much. I think 4 hours early Saturday morning.

Saturday night I slept with no problem.

Sunday, as I stated above I didn’t sleep a wink.

Tonight I should be very ready for sleep and hoping it will become a good routine.

For-warning: Be careful how your sleep schedule can get messed up.

On a side note, OSAN AB, Korea does not carry Diet Mountain Dew or Diet Code Red Dew… What on Earth could be wrong with this place?

Not Recommended

This past week I learned a valuable lesson about the “Meal, Ready-to-Eat, or MRE (pronounced “M-R-E”)”.

80% of them taste horrible. The other 20% tasted ok the first two/three meals but then they started to taste the same. The meals that have meat; “Chicken/beef/etc…” don’t taste like meat at all. Not even close. I LOVE chicken in every way. You can ask my wife. But the chicken in the MRE’s… GROSS…

The only thing good in them are the snacks/drink mixes. I enjoyed many of those during the past week instead of the meals.

It’s a lesson for next time the base has an “exercise”. Make sure I have TONS of food for the week in my room.

For some reason the base decides that during an “exercise” all chow hall facilities are closed and everything but the bank n post office is off limits to those in the “exercise”. So pretty much you work for 12 hours and are confined to your room for 12 hours. That part is not bad, its food I have issues with… Man’s got to eat…

But that is all in the past and with any luck it’ll be 4 months or so before the next one.

Kudos to my RED SOX. Trailing 6-2 going into the bottom of the 8th inning; they scored 5 runs to take the lead and held on the BEAT the EVIL EMPIRE. 7-6

Let’s hope the next 18 games are as good as this one. 2 more this weekend in Boston then next weekend 3 in New York.
